Sunday Gatherings

Weekly Sunday neighborhood gatherings began on the GSD property in February 2024.  All ages gather for food, fellowship, and Biblical dialogue.

Sports Gatherings

All ages gather to play sports and games.  Our dream was realized late 2025 as we purchase a 1.75 acre field adjacent to GSD on which to build a  baseball and soccer field.  The Sunday "Passion" of Nicaraguan men ages 7-35 is to play those team sports on Saturdays and Sundays.

Previously sports gatherings took place on a rented field about a mile walk away from the GSD property.  This was a little cumbersome, but an adequate interim solution to do sports gatherings until funds were acquired to purchase the field adjacent to the GSD property.  An EXCELLENT service opportunity is to implement those sports with Biblical dialogue, prayer, and refereeing Biblical sportsmanship.

Community Feeding Programs

Since February of 2024 funding has been provided to feed those that participate in neighborhood Sunday gatherings at GSD.  If additional funding is acquired, then we may look to do stand alone feeding programs for impoverished, pre-puberty children during the week.

We are VERY grateful to those that provide for this service to our Granadilla neighborhood!

Teen Gatherings

Teenage gatherings are a high priority as they are susceptible to dropping out of school.  Young women are also highly susceptible to teen pregnancy.  Games and food of some sort are an essential part of these Biblical dialogue gatherings.

Surveying and staying sensitive to what talents the local neighborhood youth possess inclines us to adapt to meet their needs.  In this particular case, we have several teenagers that all posses art talent.  An art teacher and supplies are acquired so they can practice their skills, with the hope that skills develop to the level of being able to market and sell their art work.  This is a wholesome, and encouraging fellowship.

Water Distribution

Water Distribution

Starting stewardship of the GSD property in 2017, with NO water source, after significant expense, well diggers (by hand!), and eventually by drillers,  found abundant water in 2020 at 450 feet deep.  And, the water came in at 45 gallons per minute!  Since we are one of the few in our Barrio Granadilla neighborhood that has water, we supply water to impoverished land owners with no water for a nominal fee that doesn't even cover the electricity bill.  The fee is literally "Cordoba pennies" on the gallon.

Starting stewardship of the property in 2017, it was about half planted with crops and had no water source.  Fast forward to 2023, the six acre property is now fully planted and will produce significant yields within 4-5 years.  Attached is a list of crops grown as of 2025.  Our long term goal for crop yields are to first distribute to workers and their  families, then to distribute freely at the  dump and other feeding programs.

Volunteering at The Dump Feedings

One service I absolutely adore is feeding those in need at the dump.  For about 12 years my family and I have been gifted to volunteer with other established service groups there (what a privilege!).  Since 2018, our property's bountiful crop has enabled GSD to donate about 250 pounds of plantains to workers at each periodic distribution.  It is unbelievably rewarding, meeting the needs of Granada's most impoverished, and grateful people.
