Fall 2023:
Major construction of the assembly building, and my apartment was completed in May of 2022, yet final building completion with details continued through 2023. I live on the GSD property every time I come to Nicaragua now. 2023 services I engaged in were the dump feedings, Bario Posentepe door to door food, prayer, and Biblical dialogue distribution, hospital visits, the children’s feeding program in Bario Pantanal, retirement home visits, and GSD neighborhood sports at the mile distant, rented field. I continue to support my three Compassion International sponsored girls, but have NOT been able to visit them for four years now due to Compassion International (CI) determined, Covid virus visitation shutdowns.
Fall 2024:
Early February a family committed to solely funding GSD Sunday assemblies. February 18, 2024 was the beginning of regular assembly on Sundays at GSD. The first Sunday brought 80 neighborhood adults, 70 children, and 20 teens! Curiosity attracted many to our opening Sunday, however Sunday gatherings averaged 30-75 people throughout the rest of the year. All assemblies draw 15+ children. Participants in the assemblies at GSD affirm that MANY boys and men want us to do more soccer and baseball sports gatherings. Jesse has a decade of experience implementing Christian sports gatherings. Services I participated in beyond those at our GSD assemblies are; feedings at the dump, sports ministry at a rented GSD neighborhood field a mile away, Posentepe door to door food, prayer, and Biblical dialogue distribution, and a Men's Biblical retreat in Matagalpa. While there we completed 132 meters of fencing with four gates around the front of the main house to secure our four guard dogs. I continue to support my three Compassion International sponsored girls, but have NOT been able to visit them for five years now due to CI determined, Covid virus visitation shutdowns.
2025:
2025 was a big change year for me as I have decided to respond to the need to come to GSD three times a year due to the growth of services we give. It's not just a need, but, I WANT to be there more often; I LOVE the people, the country, meeting their True needs, and working with the team Jesse has assembled. Donors have committed to another year of funding weekly Sunday gatherings in our neighborhood around GSD. The consistency of our services have brought a range of 52 - 104 people each Sunday. Adult dialogue, teen dialogue, children's Biblical discussions, art classes, and an every Sunday free lunch continue. Extracurricular classes like marriage enhancement take place periodically. During my March visit we completed a 7Mx7M children's pavilion to provide a meeting place for the youngest children out of the sun and rain. My July visit was invested in the regular feedings at the dump, sports ministry at a GSD neighborhood field a mile away, and Posentepe door to door food, prayer, and Biblical dialogue distribution. My October-November visit was likewise invested in the previously listed services. We were Blessed to overcome a sports services problem; we lost rental of the mile distant sports field. However, through donors "earmarked" contributions we searched for and secured the purchase of a 1.75 acre field directly across the small dirt road from my apartment. This conveniently located land is a MASSIVE Blessing from The LORD as our neighborhood VERY much wants to engage in more soccer and baseball games within the guidelines of Christian dialogue and sportsmanship. All three of my Compassion International (CI) sponsored girls, now young ladies, graduated from their CI program. So, I no longer engage in that program.
2026:
We have much anticipation for opportunities to engage in the above listed 2025 services and to develop and use the 1.75 acre field for Saturday and Sunday neighborhood sports. My visits to GSD are scheduled for March, May, and October-November of 2026.
See "Projects" for additional photos and listings of current services.
